The JLB Foundation

Being a leader in business creates an obligation to assist in providing support in our local community when there are requirements that far outweigh government and existing charity groups’ resources. Recognizing such a need, our Directors have set up The JLB Foundation, which will enable us to support a number of well deserved community facilities well into the future.

Our Mission – to provide support in areas that help to enrich and develop our community, primarily with our children. As well as financial support, it is important to our team to participate in our community. To give back by donating our time and our resources to ensure that we can help to make a change on many different levels. It is also our hope to make the community more aware of the challenges that so many families face and by doing so, removing some of the social barriers that are inevitably put up.

Currently - the JLB Foundation is pleased to be associated with the Mornington Park Primary School and is assisting the school with their Breakfast Club program.

Some Facts - Imagine going to school without having any breakfast of any kind. It is estimated that 25% of primary school aged children go to school without any breakfast at all. Many nutritionists consider breakfast to be the most important meal of the day. It assists children's physical, mental and emotional development. Children who miss breakfast are less able to concentrate, are more prone to fidgeting and find learning difficult by mid morning. Furthermore, there is evidence to suggest that children who miss out on a healthy breakfast are more likely to suffer from obesity later in life.

Our Care - Along with financial support, staff members from Jacobs & Lowe-Bennetts are also donating their time and assisting with serving the children with breakfast. Not only does the breakfast program provide obvious nutritional benefits, it also provides kids with important social skills and allows them an opportunity to learn from other role models within their community. This has become a labour of love for the staff participants and many are making it a regular event. They get as much value and enjoyment from the program as the children do. It is a fantastic experience.

To Date – The JLB Foundation has contributed a regular weekly donation of fruit for the children, have arranged for security lighting to be installed in various locations and will also be assisting with contributions to help install heating, cooling and other necessary items to ensure the health and comfort of the kids within their breakfast room.

The Future – The JLB Foundation is looking forward to expanding its fundraising activities to endeavor to support life skills programs, aiding in financial support for school camps and excursions, expanding library resources, upgrading computer facilities and to eventually offer a number of scholarships to provide private secondary education for deserving and gifted children, that may otherwise not get the opportunity.

Donations are accepted and appreciated anytime at the Jacobs and Lowe-Bennetts offices at 220 Main Street, Mornington 3931
